    Need help viewing TIFF files!

I've tried Dropbox, Fileviewer XL and I still can't view any tiff's that are emailed to me. The file has a "?" in the email and it doesn't give me any options to open with Dropbox or file viewer XL. Any ideas? It appears the mail app won't download the tiff attachments?

Huh. That's odd, because Dropbox is supposed to be able to open tiff files...

Did you try e-mailing the file to Dropbox and then go to it from within the Dropbox app? Maybe that'll work, instead.

There are also a bunch of apps that supposedly read tiff files. Although I don't know if any of these will work (I've never dealt with tiff files), I've read that Documents To Go opens tiff files. Or maybe Goodreader? I'm just throwing names out there - a Google search shows a bunch more.

Maybe the iPad just needs you to either restart or reset it? Sometimes, that's all it takes to get things "behaving" better...

Maybe some of this will give you some ideas. Sorry I'm not more help.

I'm not real familiar with Dropbox, not sure how to email it there?

Go to this link: Send To Dropbox - Email files to your Dropbox!

When you connect to Dropbox, you'll be given an e-mail address that's unique to your Dropbox. It'll go to a folder called Attachments [in Dropbox].

No text will go along with the e-mail; you can only send attachments. But, it might be a way (plus, it's very handy, sometimes, having a way to easily put attachments into Dropbox).

    Good luck.

Thanks. I tried that but the problem I think is that the mail application is not downloading the tiff file to begin with. So when I forward it to my Dropbox email, there is no attachment. Is there a way to change security settings so the mail app will download the tiff attachment?

No, AFAIK, there is no way to change security settings. Now that I think of it, a question mark in place of the attachment does mean the iPad didn't get the attachment(s). Oh, and is this for just one instance or does this happen all the time?

What happens if you try to go to the web and access your mail application from there. Do you see the tiff file - and then can you open it?

Or, what if you had the person mail that file from them directly to that Dropbox e-mail account? It may be that the file is just too large for the iPad's Mail to handle. If they send it there, maybe then you can get to it via the Dropbox app?

I'm about out of ideas .... sorry.

It happens every time my office sends me an email with a tiff file. I can get the attachment from any PC but not with the iPad. I will have them email it directly to my Dropbox email and see I'f that works.
