"A couple of" has always been one of those phrases that interests me. Merriam Webster defines it as "an indefinitely small number". The freedictionary.com defines it as "more than one" so, I guess, technically speaking the OP could have been using an iPad for a couple of years though, I suspect, most of us feel that - in common usage - it means about two...
OK - I'll go away now......

Except, My Dear. The ipad has only been out a year ~ or am I missing something?
The iPad1 has been out since April 2010 so the OP could have had it for more than a year and, according to those dictionary definitions "a couple of years" simply means "more than one" - but I agree that, in common usage, most people mean 2 years and I was just being awkward ........

you are right SP it was in May last year that I bought it but it seems like ages I have it ( now there already is an iPad 2 !!!) and I don't use it to the full.
i am glad you didn't laugh at me pfffuiiii !
my first problem with it was to create itunes and download or synchronize and then update...my old pc ( still have it :-( ) kept on saying there is an old version of iTunes and could not continue set up. I discovered how to get rid of it...a week ago and now slowly get to understand how it works ..sort of...but every step I take is full of new problems and googling is good but too much time consuming. I found this website and now I feel a little more confident to try further..ask...and see how it goes.
