I am a new iPad user, I can't get my iPod earphones to work. I have looked everywhere for why that might be. Does anyone have insight into this?

Greetings and welcome to the forum!

As far as the earphones, you have to make sure that the plug is all the way in. It is a very snug fit and even though it might feel like it is all the way in, try giving the plug a little more push and see if it won't go in a little further.

And the other thing it could be... have you checked the volume level?

As far as apps for your son, you might try posting your question in the Help section of the forum.

This might be a starting point..

iPhone, iPad and iPod touch Apps for (Special) Education

It lists (but does not evaluate) a wide range of apps.

As 1991-C4 suggests, it might be good to start a new thread on this...

If you want to post a problem, you’ll probably want to either append your question to an existing thread if your problem is related to the topic being discussed in that thread, or start a new discussion (thread). To do that, you need to navigate back to the ‘iPad Forum’ page (button near the top of the Forum web page), then choose a discussion area that you think most suits the problem you want to discuss - say ‘iPad DiY’, click to enter that area and then you’ll see a button ‘Start New Thread’. You can click on that and enter a title for your thread and the usual text box where you can type the details of your problem.

It makes sense to use a thread title that’s as descriptive as possible. So I wouldn’t call a thread ‘I have a problem’ because no one scanning through the thread will know what the problem is or whether they can help and, since there are so many posts made each day, no one has time to read them all.

So, instead, make the title of the thread as specific as possible - ‘iPad screen goes blank every 5 seconds’, for example would be better (though not as good as it could be, I have to admit) and then give as much detail of the problem as you can.

But don’t be afraid to post - all the Forum members are really nice and the Moderators keep them under control and make sure they’re well behaved and polite - well, most of the time!!

But just enjoy your iPad - I'm sure you'll get ample feedback from Forum members who have experience and advice on the sort of apps that you're looking for.

No need to be nervous or afraid of posting questions - this Forum is a great bunch of iPad enthusiasts and, like all enthusiasts, we want everyone else to share our love of the iPad. So don't worry if you feel you've done something wrong - which you haven't - the moderators here don't tolerate any bad behaviour, so posters never get 'flamed'.

We all want to help as much as possible - the iPad is finding all sorts of innovative uses and it's great to see how it can transform people's lives.

So, again, don't hesitate for a minute to post - it's an informal forum for like-minded people to casually exchange ideas and thoughts. They don't have to be fully thought out (mine usually certainly are not!) - it's more chatting with friends.
