I am the proud owner of a new ipad. It's my first apple product so I am still learning how to use it. All I have to say, once an apple fan, always is.

Can I just confirm that if I were to not sign out from my email account (in safari) and then, either turn it to sleeping mode or turn it off, will safari lead me to the unsigned account or just say, gmail homepage? Appreciate this.

If you check the 'Remember me' box it will remember you for a couple weeks. Or longer. I've never measured it.

If you uncheck it, it should require you to log on again after each session, but it is actually a bit unpredictable. The Safari session stays in memory, and I can easily leave and come back to the browser without having to sign back in. Even going to another site may not reset the password. In my admittedly short testing period I was only able to force it to make me sign in again by opening the multitasking menu and stopping Safari.

Given how multitasking works, this probably means that it would eventually ask for your password again. It all depends on how long the iPad decides to keep your Safari session in active memory.

Did you know you can sync your iPad's Mail, Calendar, and Contacts with your Google account? Just go into Settings, General, and create a new Account. It will walk you through. Once set up Google will sync with Mail, iCal.
