    location

Are you in the Maps app or using Find My iPad? In other words, in which app are you that shows the inaccurate location? And, does your iPad have 3G or is it WiFi-only?

If we know a few more specifics, we should be able to help answer the question. Thanks.

When you check your Map outside, are you still connected to your wi-fi service in the house?

Anyway, it's probably because your wi-fi service in the house is not registered (or incorrectly registered) in Apple's map database. When you step outside the iPad can probably see other wi-fi networks, and uses them to triangulate your location. A wi-fi only iPad is never terribly accurate with it's location data. If you're within a block, you're doing about as well as can be expected.

To fix it, all I can recommend is having a friend with an iPhone or wi-fi + cellular iPad visit you a few times, and check his/her location in Maps. This will send anonymous data to Apple coupling your wi-fi hotspot with a GPS location. Eventually that should work itself into the map data and fix the problem.

I'd recommend using the Report a Problem link in the Maps app, but I don't believe they have an option for correcting wi-fi location data.
