    Lost 'notes'

Hi.... I 've been here before...but still not familiar with the etiquette...so sorry for any transgressions.....
My notes have diappeared. The content of the motes has disappeared. The first time this happened after a long time browsing the internet I reinstalled gmail and that seemed to fix the problem...so 4 or 5 pages with notes intact reappeared.
However all but one page has again disappeared .......I have tried turning the ipad off but to no avail.
    Help!

Try this, go to your Notes app, then look up at the top left corner, tap on Accounts then tap on All notes, see if your missing notes appear. Let us know please.

I'm wondering, if you only have one account that you don't get that option (BTW, I have the same as you, I get the accounts option). I seem to recall another thread recently where there were other members with a different view in Notes settings?

I'm wondering if it depends on the iOS version? I don't recall what it looked like before the dreaded 6.01 update.

I think I'm remembering now, you only get that option if you turn on Notes in iCloud in the Settings App.......it's all coming back to me......so, if that option isn't turned on then presumably there won't be multiple syncing accounts and you won't get the Accounts option in the Notes App.

Did any of that mad rambling make any sense?

If you have more than one account, one of which may be Local if you happened to select the right/wrong choices when you first synced, then you will get the Accounts button. If you only have one account (local or synced) you don't get the button; because there is nothing to choose between.

@OP. Go to your GMail account and look in the Notes folder. This is where Notes stores the files is syncs with Google. If they are there copy them out for safe keeping (do not try to edit them there). If you have been deleting (all unknowing) files from that folder, see if you can find them in Trash and drag them back. This is easiest to do from a computer, but can be done from Mail or the GMail app (or website) as well.

If you have not been messing with the Notes folder in GMail, I don't know why you are having problems. Usually the synced Notes accounts are more stable than storing them locally. I've had no problems with either iCloud or Gmail notes.

That said, I don't keep a lot of notes in Notes. I prefer Evernote. The free account is more than most people need, and if you ever do lose a really important note you can upgrade to a premium account and retrieve it from your history; which is stored even for free accounts (just not accessible for free).
