Also - you aren't connecting to a an access point that has been enabled to provide "guest" access - since that would give internet access to devices - but no visibility to any computers or other devices on your local network.
One more thing - any chance that you have a firewall blocking the device from accessing your iTunes computer - specially the Windows Firewall. If that is on - have you tried turning it off - to see if it makes a difference?
