About LinkBacksIs the iPad as secure as a desktop computer when it comes to protecting credit card info? Assuming that my wireless is secure (I'm using wpa2 personal) and the site in question is using ssl, will it be as secure as any other computer?

Sure, I don't see why not, given the caveats you list. I am an online banking and shopping person and I have zero qualms about going online with the iPad.
Just be careful when you are using public WiFi and I'm sure you'll be fine.
