With iOS 5, my wife reports that her ipad2 only has earphone audio when Skyping. Any newer, compatible Skype versions? Any ideas? I've reinstalled Skype but to no avail.

Have you checked that the Mute function is not enabled; Mute doesn't affect the headphone connection, so it's possible that this is the problem.

Indeed I have. She can play and hear her music, prompts and alarms, just no skype audio.
