I just figured it out. Plug your Ipad into your system and in the Summary tab of your device, go to Options and check the box "Sync with this Ipad over wi-fi". Click apply and then unplug the ipad and shut down iTunes. Plug the device into the power unit and start iTunes. Give it a few seconds then you should see the Sync Now button working. If you leave it alone for ab bit, it will sync on it's own.

That worked thanks, but here's my beef, you still have to open iTunes, at least with cable it opens on its own.lol

For me, it's working but not correctly. First, even after I shut down iTunes and close the ipad cover, iTunes keeps reopening every few minutes on it's own.
And, with a battery life of 83%, unplugged, the ipad successfully syncs......not even plugged into the wall.

What I guess I have to do is to turn off wireless sync until I actually want to sync.

Way better job explaining than me.

Sorry, I think I 'sped read' over your post. I didn't even see it but I certainly understood it after I just read it.
It really has a few bugs from what I can see so they shouldn't brag about it just yet.

I tested off ac power, it syncs after a minute once you open iTunes, which makes since, I see no reason why has to have power supply plugged in, if fully charged how is the ac power assisting the wifi, I did 4 backups off ac power now, as I said earlier, was hoping if computer was on, iTunes would launch if the wireless sync was enabled,

I was able to sync both my iPad 2 & iPhone 4 several times earlier today without having to be plugged in to electrical power.

I couldn't get the wifi sync to work last night. I couldn't find any reference to it in iTunes on my Mac... Am I missing something obvious?
