Is iOS 4.3 Slowing Processor Down?

Did anyone catch Slashgears benchmarking of ios 4.3 and see how the processor speed was lower after upgrading an ipad1?

iOS 4.3 Benchmarks on iPad – SlashGear

I didn't notice that until after I read how the ipad2's processor came in at less than 1ghz.

Could there be some code in there that slows down the processor to prevent battery life and heat in the ipad2 from being an issue and inadvertantly is slowing down ipad1's?

Everything I've read shows the first gen iPad running much faster with the 4.3 update.

Web performance has largely improved, thanks to iOS 4.3, the latest software update shipping with the iPad 2, which includes an improved JavaScript-rendering engine for Safari.

The iPad 2 took 2,180 milliseconds to complete a SunSpider benchmark test, whereas the iPad 1 took 3,353 milliseconds. Running the earlier iOS 4.2, the iPad 1 took over 8,100 milliseconds to complete the same test.

That means JavaScript-heavy websites (such as Gmail) should run significantly faster.

    False Alarm

I downloaded Geekbench and ran it on my system and the processor was indeed at 1ghz. I don't know why Slashgears ipad showed an 800mhz.

    iPad 1 slow down

I found this thread looking for a reason my iPad seems slower. Would the device by definition get slower as it gets fuller? Ie the more apps , video, audio, etc that you load it with overntime? Don't know if it coincided with 4.3 update? But I certainly see lags I did not see out of the box

Something that often helps - and even Apple recommend you do this at least once a week - is to completely turn the iPad off, rather than simply putting it to sleep. So press and hold the Power switch until the slider appears and accept the offer to completely power down. There are some good technical reasons why this can help improve 'performance', so it's worth doing it once in a while as Apple recommend.
