Actually that's a completely wrong statement. I myself have been testing this with my iPad as well as my iPod Touch 4g and battery life has not been affected.

My wife also has a iPad and iPod Touch 4g and she never closes out the apps and again, no change in battery life.

This is under heavy use for both of them (I stream pandora to the touch) and I watch Netflix and read on the other).

Would someone please post an actual bench testing results as everyone is stating subjective responses.
Fact or fictions.

I will contact Apple and speak to an actual genius and post his/her responses.

Having said that, mine runs about the same. 10 - 12 hours.

I posted earlier a full 10 hour usage cycle with multitasking and all.

What other portable gadget can you such a long battery life? The battery packs on my blasted portable drills don't last an hour

I can't say I've noticed a decline in usage but if there is one it's small and of little importance. Still makes for stimulating exchange for geeks and those wanting to boost their posting numbers.

Battery life definitely lower for me under 4.2.1

Battery life is the same for me, but then I makesure to close all apps after use or at least on a regular basis.
I think the open apps would use some power even though you are not using it.

After update, my battery life seems to drop really fast too. I close all apps not in use but still find that the battery doesn't seem to last. I noticed a 30% drop.
