This is a discussion on iOS 4.2 beta version issues - Read before posting about locked iOS 4.2 restore within the iPad OS forums, part of the Apple iPad Discussions category; Originally Posted by flummie Originally Posted by gentlefury Originally Posted by flummie mmm blackrain doesnt get me out of recovery.. it does nothing.. how frustrating.. ...
You need iTunes 9 and firmware umbrella to downgrade. I thought you wanted 4.2....if so I laid out the instructions. If you stop improvising and follow what I said you will get where you were going.
I guess I am going to have to edit Cydia out of my HOSTS in order to ''upgrade'' to 4.2?
I finally remembered that the file pointed to Cydia hours after failing on 4.2.
The good news is that my iPad 3G is fully functional again, even if it is on 3.2.2.
Maybe I'll get my courage up, edit hosts and try again.

first of all Calm down and look at atached picture...
everyone can update without udid... did it my self yesterday..
just download the beta, go to itunes and hit shift + update at the same time..
I repeat shift + update... not shift + restore!!
if you accidently hit shift + restore you'll have to restore back to a lower version 3.2.2 or lower.. when you do that youl get an error "1015"
dont worry... use tiny umbrella and have it to kick the ipad out of this mode..
after reboot..
retry with shift + update...
