I'd be willing to pay more for higher-end mini, but I don't think it's in the cards if Apple's goal is a wider user base that's more price sensitive.

I think a good point. The iPad Mini at 7 inches (as rumoured) would not have that much more of an impact in size, or usefulness, than the very latest iPhone which is also an excellent mobile phone which incorporates the good iPad stuff. Apple would be foolish to have it compete toe to toe with the iPad.Quote:

I want an iPad mini!
Me too! My ipad2 is lonley, a smaller version of the ipad2 would be a nice compliment!Quote:

Easy on the tone in your comments, Purplehaste. It isn't necessary to get charged up about a product you are not interested in, but please consider that others will have an interest.
Be respectful!
Thank you.

For some people the increased portability of an iPad mini, if released, would outweigh the loss of screen size.
That's right enough. The Playbook is a comfortable size, and very readable. There are times when the iPad is inconvenient because of its size, but the iPhone is too small for the task at hand.Quote:

It should be just like an iPad 2, with just a smaller screen. More pixels per inch, but addressable just like a regular iPad (no doubling like on 2012 iPad). I will have to see it first to judge my interest. That resolution is plenty for watching movies but I'm doubtful it will be good for reading PDFs. But then again, no 7-inch tablet is really good, IMO that is, for reading PDFs formated for 8.5 by 11 inch sheets of paper.
The real advantage of a mini iPad 2 (not a mini 2012 iPad) is that it would small and light and should have great battery life (like a nexus 7, but from Apple). If apple did nothing more than that, while maintaining battery life, the device could be a winner at ~$300 for 16GB, $350 for 32GB. I would hope this would include LTE and a GPS chip. I tell ya, the pricing seems hard....and it seems it will be easy for them to disappoint folks on price, because we know they will not be competing against other tablet makers who are yet to make a profit from tablets. And having all these different variations is going to be a pain too, especially if they can't command top dollar. I see this at a limited sku device...only a couple of models...sort of like how they are doing the iPad 2 and the 4S now, after introducing newer models.
If they offered that much for the mini than their really not competing with others in the 7" tablet market like Amazon and it's still a few dollars short of an iPad 2 16G wifi only.
They need to lower the price if they want to corner this market.
