1 - Yes, the smaller screen is best for reading books. It's much less than stellar for surfing the web and writing emails.
2. I agree and did the same thing.
3. No, not at all. It comes with one lightning cable and I just picked up a couple of adaptors. They are down to $4 each from Belkin now.
If my Irish Wolfhound doesn't like you neither will I.
2012 13" MBA, 2011 11" MBA, 2010 15" MBP, 2 iPad3s, 1 iPad Mini, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. A bunch of iPods and an Apple TV.
This probably is an obvious one, but please bear with my slow comprehension, this 63 year old brain takes time.
I collected my mini last night and am getting the hang of loading apps on to it and working out which ones to add. I see there is no headphone socket - does this mean there is no way to listen to my audiobooks without making my husband also listen to them?
Is there some wireless earphone I need to buy?
The headphone jack should be on the left side of the top edge when holding it in portrait mode with the home button at the bottom.

Yes just got my iPad Mini. It's the lightest and thinnest device out there. You can hold it all day long without getting strained and is the perfect form factor for typing using the on screen keyboard. Resolution is a bit low compared to even iPhone 4 however.
I'm glad I could be of help.Originally Posted by Elizellen

Thanks all for your input and advice. I also appreciate the Belkin $4 tip for the adapters. I'll be taking my iPad 1 and giving it to my daughter (along with the Zagg keyboard/cover for her to use at school. I thought I read out there that there was some kind of SD card adapter or something like that - but didn't see any in the specs. Oh well - well see - assuming that Santa thinks that I've been good this year - and that's a scary thought.
Most probably tapped on my iPad!
You are thinking of the camera connection kit. It will read the SD card from your camera and let you transfer all or any selection of photos from the card to your iPad.Originally Posted by DavidNM
