iPad is higher resolution. The mini is standard resolution but more portable because it is smaller and lighter. They run the same apps.

It's a shrunken iPad 2. I have one and it kick a**. The size is perfect and battery life is great. I am giving this one to my daughter for Xmas and getting the 4g version. Hotspot takes too long to connect to my phone but that is any device so I don't know if its Verizon or apple in general.
So why do you prefer a regular iPad instead of an iPad mini?Originally Posted by thormcse
I own an iPad 3, and an iPhone 4S, so that's why I think that an iPad mini is perfect for some people that only want to use just one option. What's your opinion?Originally Posted by AQ_OC
There is no really big difference between the mini and the 9'7 inch iPad just the size factor and the 9'7inch iPad has a retina display even though the mini doesn't have retina display i prefer the mini because its light compact and easy to carry around with you perfect for traveling around when you have to go places or do something or take notes some where.I like the 9'7 inch iPad but its just a bit heavy to hold after a while because of its weight factor. The mini does come in its own when it comes down to the weight factor so light to hold and you can hold it all day without your hand hurting. That one thing that sold the mini to me the weight factor and i think the screen is a perfect size for reading and surfing and checking Emails and playing games etc.My iPad 9'7 doesn't really get used much now because i just the mini for everything except Watching movies or Tv series i will use the 9'7 inch iPad for that because i just don't think the iPad mini just not quite there for that sort of thing because its watchable don't get me wrong but i prefer the 9'7 inch for that sort of thing.
Thank you pommie82, your answer really help me, because I was think about to change the regular iPad for a new iPad mini because of the weight, but I can still use the iPhone for simple things, and the 9'7 for watching movies, photos, videos etc...with a better screen.Originally Posted by pommie82
iam glad that you read my post and that you have made your discussion and i do hope that you are happy with it too i love the 9'7 inch iPad for movies and love the mini for everything else.
Have both the 3 and the mini. Prefer the 3 for videos, general web use. Prefer the mini for reading books and light email use. There is a time and place for both. Love the mini's light weight and small er form factor.
If my Irish Wolfhound doesn't like you neither will I.
2012 13" MBA, 2011 11" MBA, 2010 15" MBP, 2 iPad3s, 1 iPad Mini, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5. A bunch of iPods and an Apple TV.
I recently was deciding between the IPad mini and IPad 2... I went with the IPad 2 but I may pick up the mini in a month or so from now. The only reason I went with the 2 was that I wanted the bigger screen since I already have a Nexus7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The mini looks hot though. Can't wait to try one out in the Apple store. I'm very pleased with the 2 though... Mostly I just browse the web on it so the extra real estate is great.
