Will Apple release iPad Mini in this October?

People keep saying that the iPad Mini will be released in this October after the iPhone 5 event, but I read in this morning this article:
Rumor: The iPad mini might not be announced this October after all

What do you guys think? Will Apple release iPad Mini in this October?

I think we'd need a spreadsheet to keep track of all the iPad rumors and "leaks" out there, and writers will keep writing about them, because those stories get clicks.

Please provide a link to the actual Digitimes story. This Android forum post is lame on details.

I want to see what Apple will bring out, but I'm not convinced I need a mini iPad. (Depends on specs.) I'm in a buying mood, but there are going to be plenty of options this fall.

If there are production probs, I'd rather any company get things right, rather than rush out a product.

By the way, the only current story on a mini iPad on Digitimes' website says this, so I would want to see a legit link to the story that the Android forum referred to, otherwise I doubt its existence:

AUO to ship as many as 500,000 panels for Apple's reported 7.85-inch iPad

    Have you heard the latest?

Bigfoot was spotted with a mini iPad. He had a hard time fiddling with the new, smaller USB plug.

I think we will see it getting announced in October but have my doubts if it will be competitive.

I have never understood why Apple do not put a GPS chip ın their WiFi versions of their tablets (or Ipod) as it only costs a few bucks. They are pushing thier new maps application but to use it you have to spend $100+ to get the GSM model. All its competitors including Google & Microsoft do put a GPS chip in their WiFi Tablets.

Competitive means something different for apple. If they offer a mini-iPad, they won't compete on price with companies that aren't making any profit on their tablets. They don't need to do that. They will simply offer a more affordable offering that will probably lack features. They just updated the iPod touch and those prices are $299 (32gb) and $399 (64gb), iirc. These have a four inch screen. So I'm having a hard time believing they will offer a mini for less than this without gutting the thing completely. They offered the 16 gb iPad 2 for $400. A 7.8 inch device with a 1024 by 768 screen will probably come in 16gb version only and cost $350. That's a good bit more than the kindle and google offerings. Of course, I could be wrong. We can revisit this question in October 😝.
