Hi! Newbie here. So glad to have found you all. My first query (and I promise to help out everyone else with what I know too.)

iPad gen 1. Been working beautifully with ibook author for 6 months. IOS5.1.1 software. Did a restore recently because having a few too many crashes out of safari. Now, can't get the device up when linked to my desktop mac to preview ibooks I'm building. Mac genius's couldn't help at the app store....to have come to the real genii! Anyone had similar issues and discovered the problem and workaround? Thanks for reading

Try a reset of your iPad and see if this makes a difference. Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.
