I want to Skype using my new iPad. Apparently I can do everything but hear what the other Skyper is saying. What setting or button do I need to turn on? So far I can hear only dings and swishes of incoming and outgoing emails.

I can't find any settings in Skype that would account for this.

All I can suggest is this. Plug in headphones and hit volume up, then unplug them and hit volume up again. The two volume controls are independent, and Skype might be expecting the wrong one.

It's a common Skype issue across the board, but could simply be that the person at the other end does not have their mic plugged in or turned on. Try the Skype Test call to check if it is at the iPad end or not.
