I can't get my camera to work. When I hit the camera icon the screen goes black. I can view pictures and everything else just fine. Have no idea how to reset this.

Try closing the camera in the multitask bar, then trying to restart it.

If that doesn't work, a reboot might be the way to go.

Follow this up with a restore to factory settings. Don't forget to backup first.

If none of this works, I'd start thinking about hardware failure.

Is it just plain black? Is the camera menu at the bottom (like the settings to choose between video and picture, front and back camera, etc.)?

Yes it is plain black. Yes the menu is at the bottom.
