What bad does jail break do to the apple devices? Any help

And to add to that, it's totally reversible so if you decide that you don't want to keep your iPad jail broken you can return your iPad to an un jail broken state at any time, there is nothing to lose and lots to gain (now I've said that I might jail break one of mine this weekend.......again!).
