I want to make an icon that opens up a word document... not an app, not a website, not nothin' else... just a document. Any ideas on how to do so?

You must explain further? I'm assuming that you want something like a Windows desktop shortcut option, i.e. like an icon that when tapped will just open the appropriate app and then the document? Is that correct? Not sure that is possible w/ the iPad, but you may want to respond if this is the need - will allow the 'experts' here to better respond to your needs - good luck!
