On updating OS we found that the icon on Safari that allows you to jump to the recently opened pages is no longer present on the toolbar. Had a quick look under SETTINGS and could not see an option to select the icon
Any ideas.

With regard to your question, with the upgrade came a new Safari, new tabs can be made by pressing the + on the right and you can swap between tabs. Alternatively just long press the + and a box will open showing Recently Closed Tabs

Thanks for the reply. Fine now for finding the recently closed tabs with new version of Safari. How though do we access tabs that are still open. With old version of safari clicked an Icon and this dropped us in a page that had images of the open pages. Can see open pages with Tabs along the top but no longer the page with the images. has the icon gone that takes you the page with all the images?
Yeah, sorry, Apple did away with "thumbnail" views with ios 5. Hopefully they will bring an option to choose either "tabs" or "thumbnails" in an future update.
