Really, need your help! An unknow id appears when updating apps
I have an IPad 2. just got the new ios5 with no problems.
I am trying to update some apps, but an apple id pops up ( maybe was an older one, but I got no email adress related to it) so when I enter my usual password there seems to be a missmatch!
could anyone help me to get rid of this 'old' id and be able to update my apps!
i searched many places, asked a lot of people, searched here ( honest!), but can't get my iPad to work as before the iOS upgrade. No jailbreak in my iPad.
Regards,

In your Settings app, on the left side, scroll down until you see the "Store" line; press it. On the right side, at the bottom, you should see the Apple ID currently associated with that iPad.
If it is different than the one you want, press it and select "Sign Out." Then, you should be offered the opportunity to re-sign back in. This time, sign in with the Apple ID you want to use (that matches your current password).
That should do it. Please let us know how you get on.

Marylin, thanks for your reply. Indeed, right where you say there's my 'real' Apple ID ( for which I know the password). The problem is that when I am going to update the apps in the Store, when I prompt my iPad to do so I am asked for a password ( as usual) but there is where appears a different Apple ID!. Now, that's the problem as I can't remember any passwoed related to that ID. I hope I made myself clear.
Thanks in advance.

Did you buy the iPad used? If the app downloaded is associated with the old owner it will not upgrade unless you know the password from the previous owner. You may need to delete the app and download it with you apple ID.

If you have a second ID you do not remember the password for, you can log into iTunes and use the Forgot my Password option.
If you still cannot remember it, you will have to delete the apps that are trying to update themselves based on that iTunes account. There is no other way to disable those update messages or password requests.

Actually, the iPad belongs to my dad. Bought brand new. I convinced him to upgrade to iOS 5 - why shouldn't I? And now he can't get the upgrades. I'm in trouble now ! he can't get updates, email is not send messages correctly, lots of apps he bought are missing, he's not happy!, that's why I' crying for help.
Delete upgrade-asking apps? - that's suicide! Suggestions, please!

If it belongs to your dad then you should be able to delete the app anyway and reload it. I would go to iTunes and hit forgot password just to be sure password is correct.
As for email not sending you need to make sure the password in the settings for outgoing mail is set. For some reason when I upgraded all my passwords in mail had to be reset.

Hi all:
It took me a couple of minutes to realize the logic behind your suggestion, but it worked !
Thank you so much for all your kind replies and suggestions. My dad's iPad is now back to normal. Great advice, more than perfect timing!
Best regards,
Andres
