The iPad camera connection kit provides only 10 mA of current to any attached peripheral. Most memory sticks require more than this and simply cannot be used with the iPad. You'll find several threads on the Forum where Members discuss the newer low-power USB sticks that will work with the iPad. The older, high-power, versions simply consume too much power for the iPad.

Good idea!!
Thanks

Thanks for your replies..I didn't realize there were lower powered USB sticks... Off to spend some more money then...Originally Posted by Tim SPRACKLEN
Yes - but be careful because only a few have such low power requirements. It might be worth reading the comments from Members on the sticks that work and those that don't. The USB hub was a good idea too because it would then work with any stick.

I just read about this... Check out I-FlashDrive from Photofast. Looks like it might fit the bill. I don't have a link, but bet you could google them. Said to be designed specifically for iPhone, iPod and iPad.
Tim and Jeeper.. thanks for your replies!! Most helpful as usual!
Found the USB suggested... a tad expensive at over £70 or about $130
