I am 55 and have been using personal computers for 26 years. My first computer was an apple mac. I just bought my ipad2 and when I try to start it I only get a circle that says iTunes with a usd cord underneath it. I can't figure out what to do and it didn't come with instructions. Bought at Best Buy.

That message on the screen means you need to connect your iPad to your PC or Mac for its initial synchronisation. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your PC or Mac then connect the two. The iPad will synchronise and you'll have the option of copying all your contacts, calendar and email accounts. Then, after a few minutes, you'll be good to go.
