I'm very sad about my iPad. When hurricane Irene came and delivered all that rain, my iPad suffered, due to the rain coming into the apartment. It was on my nightstand and the water came in from the ceiling and totally drenched it. I thought all was good , as I found a remedy for absorbing the water. It was working fine, but then it started to randomly go on and off. Very frustrating! I searched online to find out how I could open it up and perhaps, dry it out if there were still remnants of water inside. Well, That didnt help much and now it is messed it up even more and now it's giving me some other problems. I really wish that apple would cover it, because not all water damage is a result of negligence. 

Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of great people here willing to lend a hand anytime. Often using the search feature (in the toolbar at the top of every page) will lead you to the answers you're looking for. If not, feel free to post a question in the appropriate area.

With respect to your dilemma, I wouldn't discount Apple coming through for you if you can get it to a store and tell them your story.

There are literally thousands of stories about Apple helping people with replacement products even though they were out of warranty or not covered all together so it's worth a shot. (I've had a couple of very positive experiences like that myself.)

Best of luck and if you do seek their help, let us know how it goes!

    Welcome again and enjoy!

I avoid extended warranties like the plague with two exceptions. One is Apple Care. I've had terrific luck getting things taken care of that I thought Apple would never consider.

Second, I can highly recommend a third-party company called SquareTrade. They will fully cover all sorts of things for a very reasonable price. Even if your iPad screen is smashed, they'll replace it. They have a long and good reputation.

Basically the treatment for a wet iPad is the same as that for a wet iPhone.
Do a search on google for the best ways to recover your machine.

The most important thing is to turn it off and leave it off until you are happy that the interior is thoroughly dried. Trying it out before then can lead to shorting.
FWIW I tried the sealed bag of rice with a drowned iPhone and left it on a radiator for a week before switching it back on. So it does work.

I had success with the rice procedure three weeks ago when my Droid Charge went for a swim in the lake. Took 3 days to get back to 100%, but it worked.
