As the title also the same for my Skype contacts?

Email contacts should be transferred automatically when you perform the initial sync of the iPad - and that sync should also set up your email accounts too. Both of these are optional, of course.

I have got my Skype contacts on board but still cannot get my email ones. I have tried by hooking up to my PC and iTunes but no go. I must be missing something somewhere.

Setup gmail as an exchange account:

Google Sync for your phone

If you use the google calendar this will also sync that and its all done over the air, so no need to sync via itunes for contacts.

you can do that using your only your ipad. i started a thread related to this : adding email addresses from gmail to ipad's mail application without using itunes

while using safari and logged in at gmail, you can save your contacts thru gmail.com/contacts.
