Connect iPad to a computer - Reboot cycle ~60 seconds later

I have a really strange issue. Here is my system info:
    • iPad 3G + Wifi 16GB.
    • Windows 7 Professional x64
    • iTunes (Latest version)
    • Windows XP Professional x86
    • iTunes (Latest version)
The problem I'm having, is if I plug my iPad into either of the above systems, it shows up in iTunes fine, and I can sync to it easily enough, but about 60 seconds after plugging it in, it reboots and gets into a reboot loop which can only be broken with a hard reset. Same thing if it starts up after a reset plugged in. Fine for 60 seconds, then restarts continuously.

Oddly, if I start it up unplugged, or if I connect it to a powerpoint, it's fine and runs with no problem. This started seemingly randomly yesterday evening.

Anyone else encountered a similar issue?

Perform a restore on the ipad.

if that doesnt work I would go to the apple store and exchange for a new one.

I had one that started doing that, then the sleep/wake button stopped working all together as if it was always being held down. apple store said it was a defect and replace it with a new ipad.

Great. Looks like I'm off to the apple store tomorrow. Thanks for the info though.

EDIT: Hope they have one in stock, it'd suck if I had to wait until June 7.

Hey, try this if it helps. It helped me for sure.

The problem is not in your iPAD, it is in on your PC in the BIOS.

There is an option in the BIOS when you boot your machine for <USB VOLTAGE>. Try to find it.

    and when you do -
    - you will see 3 settings in there - Low, Medium, High. Most likely yours is set at HIGH. This is the cause of your iPAD rebooting every 60 secs.
    - Change this to MEDIUM, save bios and reboot. Now give it a shot.

If that does not work, then flip it to LOW and repeat.

Hopefully that will solve your issue. It did mine.

If it works for you, do let me know.

    Enjoy!.

Ok, I went into the Apple Store, one of the guys in there did a hardware-level restore and it seems to be fixed.

    Thanks for all your advice.
