I would do a hard reboot hold power button and home button at the same time takes about 30 to 60 seconds wait till you see the apple and recheck charger and plugs make sure all plugged in good

Thanks it worked. Wonder what was wrong?
Sometimes iPads just do weird things. Becoming familiar with the reboot is your best defense, as it cures most anomalies![]()
You don't wipe out any information or apps does it?

The power button + home button thing is essentially just a forced-reboot.
So, it doesn't delete anything.
Is it a good idea to perform this every once in a while or just if you notice the iPad acting flaky

It is recommended to re-boot just by pressing and holding the power button until the red slider appears and turning off, then just turn back on every few days to a week. And when it gets "flaky".
You can't imagine the amount of problems that a reboot fixes.
I turn my off every night.
I plug in to the charger, and turn it off. Most of the time it will stay off but lately it will just turn itself back on.
Nobody had seemed to figure that out yet.
Hmmm, I haven't really shut this down more than a few times over the last month. I like your idea of power down every night while it's charging.
I'm sure you've already covered this but do you have reminders, alerts or alarms turning the device back on?
