    Need help restoring original settings

Posted this on the wrong forum originally

Tryied to look for this one, but couldn'T find the answer on the board.

Bought a used Ipad yesterday and I tryied to reset it using the reset & erase all programs option (probably not the most brillant move) and since then it dosn't work anymore. Right now all I have is the apple logon on screen and my Computer dosn'T recognize it.

The Ipad was never sync with my computer

I was wondering if you had any advice on what I could do to have it reboot and reinstall OS with all original default settings

    Thank you in advance

The best thing I believe you should do is put the iPad into DFU mode (Device Firmware Update) so that you can, essentially, start over from scratch.

Please see this thread to tell you how to do this: DFU Mode for Dummies

As you can see from that thread "Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode is a special failsafe mode which Apple has built into all of their devices so that they can restored to a stock iOS firmware regardless of the state they may be in. It is implemented at a lower level than the normal recovery mode, which shows the "connect to iTunes cable" graphic on the screen of the iPad."

Now, don't worry that the thread talks about jailbreaking. You don't have to do that (nor can you if you have an iPad 2). However, this does give you the steps to put the iPad into that DFU mode so that iTunes can put a new version of iOS 4.3.3 on it.

Once you get the iPad into DFU mode, iTunes will recognize it and "prompt you to restore it." As you just got it, and it's not been synced with your iTunes yet, just select to set up the iPad as new. Then, you should be fine with a brand-new iPad.

Given that you've tried the restore and are now stuck on the boot logo - this is your best bet.

Good luck and let us know if you have more questions.
