So I've purchased quite a few books for my iPad2 but not through the iBookstore. They are all the .ePub format and read great on the iPad but for some reason won't tansfer to my PC in itunes. Although iOS 5 is a bit far off, I've heard from a friend that when she upgraded iOS (this was a while ago) all of her purchased books were deleted from her iPad and I would hate to have that happen to me. Had they been synced in itunes that wouldnt have been a problem... any help on how to sync to these books itunes????

I'm still learning and haven't tried it but Calibre is free and works great from the pc to ipad so it might work from the ipad to pc. They have a pretty good forum for help as well.

What app are you reading them in, and how did you transfer them to the iPad?

1.Run iTunes
2.Click on File menu and select “Add to Library…”
3.Select ebook (.ePub) file from computer that you want to transfer and click Choose button
4.On the left side under Library section, click on Books. Your books will be listed on the right side.
5.Connect your iPad with computer and after few seconds your device will be listed under Devices section on the left side, select your device (iPad)
6.Select the Books tab on the top
7.Check the “Sync Books” checkbox and you can Sync all the books by selecting the “All books” option or few selected book by selecting the “Selected books” option
8.Finally click on Sync or Apply button
9.When iTunes completes syncing process, you can view these books in iBooks app on your iPad.
