can't play asf files
This is a discussion on asf files within the iPad Help forums, part of the Apple iPad Discussions category; can't play asf files...
What is an "asf" file?

From what I can tell from using Google, asf has something to do with Windows media... Like a wma file...
If that's the case, you are correct, you cannot play it. MP3, wav, alf are supported. The iPad is not a Windows computer so not all windows formats are supported. Heck, hardly anything other than Zune supports wma's anymore....
Anyway, welcome to the forum. You might want to give a bit more information with your question....

Do a Google Search for free software that will play ASF on Windows.
KMPlayer on Mac OS X (via Fink)
yes it is a video file , i have a security cam that emails files.asf when triggerd so how can i save them and convert them to play on the ipad?
just download Azul Media Player from the AppStore... Then just hold the attachment in your mail program for about 3 seconds, you'll get a popover that says "Open in Azul". You're done. It will launch and play the video.... works on WMV files too....
Thant you jeffsharp31, wish I would have know about Azul media player before buying WinX video converter.
