Hi! I have a problem with my iPad 64K without 3G.
It works well with my wifi net at home. BUT: Repeatedly
when beeing at cafées or hotels with a wifi possibility,
it is not possible to connect it to the internet.

What can the cause of this problem be?

Anyone having tips/hints for me?

If the Public WiFi you are talking about have no User/Password, you shouldn't have any problem what so ever. See in the Setting how those "free" Wifi look like. Do they have the "lock" sign of not.
Did you check these places with your phone or with other people that CAN surf the web ?

I never had that problem.

Thank you for you suggestions. I think I have tried your tips without success, but I will surely try again. Can't understand why it should be a problem, though.

When I go to the library I always have to go into Settings>Wi-Fi>Other and select the name of the library then agree to their Terms of Service on their captive portal page
I have to this no matter how many times I use that network
When I return home I automatically connect to the net connection shared through my laptop
