    Which App Allows Special Characters

Hi! this is an absolutely awesome thread.. an absolute god-sent!
i just have 2 more questions before i can decide which one is best for my specific needs...

    1. In which of these can we edit, add and format headers, footers and mainly footnotes..??

    2. In which of these can we insert symbols like the ones in the following piece for example..
    1. Non-Bhägavata group –
    1. Hariçcandra-upäkhyäna (Märkaëòeya-puräëa)
    2. Bhakti-pradépa (Garuòa-puräëa)
    3. Kértana-ghoñä : ‘Ureñä-varëana’ section (Brahma-puräna)
I have to work with diacritical marks as i do transcription and translation works of ancient indian languages. Of course as i found out, we cant add custom fonts on the i-pad without jailbreaking it, but even if we can insert the symbols, like those above, it will work for me... also please let me know in which its easier to use symbols...

    thanks to all....

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I've moved your question to its own thread as it was off-topic where you initially posted it. In addition, making six posts for this question was a bit too much.

I deleted your other five threads you started today on this same topic. Making more than one post not only fragments the conversation and makes it hard to follow - it's against the forum rules. Please keep any follow-ups, discussion or updates on this topic to this thread; do not start another. Thanks for your understanding.

I can't give you any advice on which office app will help with headers and footers. Hopefully, someone will be along to assist.

I do know that the iPad (at least, the English keyboard) allows you to make special characters by pressing and holding a letter. Then, you get a pop-up of various letters you can select. For example, you can make this character [ç] by holding the C and selecting the letter. The same as you can make this letter [ä], this one [é] and this [ñ]. You'll have to experiment to see which special letters are available to suit you - but they are there automatically (you just have to select them).

As you say Marilyn, it looks like the regular keyboard covers all the examples the OP wanted. Here they all are. Just remember to slide your finger to the the required letter before letting go of the keyboard.
