Unlocked iPad - What's The Point?

they aren't firmware locked, but ATT is the only company offering the service and the sim....so yeah it's locked to ATT

If Apple releases a new iPhone this summer to work on Verizon's network, it would only make sense an iPad compatible version would follow soon!

Different network (unless lte uses GSM sim cards.) You would have to buy a new ipad.
