My ipad2 is running ios6 but I want to jailbreak it and from what I've read I need to downgrade to an older version but require blobs. My question is, can I obtain the required blobs from anywhere as I don't have any saved or is there a way to jailbreak ios6 without a downgrade?
Sorry for the simple questions but I am am new to the whole apple way of life.
Any help would be really appreciated.

If you didn't save blobs for an earlier version of iOS when that version was being signed, there's no way to get them now. I'm afraid that you will have to wait for the release of an iOS 6 jailbreak in order to jailbreak your iPad.

Aren't the blobs automatically saved when you jailbreak the device?

Yes, but. They are only automatically saved if you visit Cydia. If you never visit Cydia, they won't be. Since most people (all?) do visit Cydia with their jail broken iDevice, it appears automatic....
