With everything saved/backed up - the best thing for you is to connect your iPad1 to iTunes and press the "Restore" button on the main Summary tab. iTunes should install iOS 5.1.1 onto that iPad (the newest iOS for the iPad1 - and arguably the most stable). Once the iOS is on the iPad, do NOT elect to restore from backup - choose to restore from new. Only set the iPad up enough to be able to access WiFi.
Then, jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe 2.0. Here is the tutorial: TUTORIAL - Jailbreak the iPad2 and iPad3 on 5.1.1 With Absinthe 2.0
Once the jail break is done, connect your iPad to iTunes and right click on it. Select "restore from backup" to put all your apps (and data) back on the iPad.
Then, you can run PKGBackup to restore the Cydia tweaks. Although - that may give you some issue as it's never a good thing to restore tweaks after a major iOS upgrade. You might want to put them all back on one-by-one to make sure you don't have conflicts.
It'll take a bit of time - but at the end you should have an iPad1 that is running iOS 5.1.1 and jailbroken.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Marilyn
P.S. I deleted your other thread you started today on this same topic. Making more than one post not only fragments the conversation and makes it hard to follow - it's against the forum rules. Please keep any follow-ups, discussion or updates on this topic to this thread; do not start another. Thanks for your understanding.

So after i successfully updated (thank you again), cydia worked for a day. The next day Cydia keeps force closing, i click on it and it automatically closes. My apps also jitter retardedly, and when i open up some of my app folders the apps disappear from the screen until i close the folder... what's going on and how do i fix it![]()
