Hey guys, in anticipation of the iOS 5, I wanted to restore my jail broken iPad 2. When I plugged my iPad in and pressed the restore button, iTunes required me to update the software to 4.3.5 or the latest one.
Long ago, my uncle had an iPhone 2g. He said he updated his iPhone while it was jail broken and idk why he did he, I guess he was a jailbreak noob, and it caused the iPhone's wifi to screw up and the phone had no more wifi. For my iPad, if that problem arises, my iPad would be useless because I pretty much use it to surf the web and my iPad is not the 3G version so I have no means so surf the web.
To cut the long story short, how do I restore a jail broken iPad and is it safe to use the conventional method of iTunes and then updating it to the latest os before restoring?

The best way to restore a jail broke iPad to stock iOS 4.3.5 is to put it into DFU mode and then, when iTunes opens, select "restore."

Oh, and ensure you already have iOS 4.3.5 on your PC as it makes the process go much quicker. You can get it via iTunes by "checking for updates."

If you try to do it without DFU mode, the odds are it may not work as well...

So the steps I'll have to take is
1)have 4.3.5 on my pc
2)plug the iPad and connect it
3)put it into dfu mode
4)select restore
Then let it restore right?

Why don't u wait until 5 is released? So u can enjoy ur jailbreak?

Yep, that's it.

Note that when you plug it in (step 2), your iTunes may start, depending on your settings. Just close it (it will reopen with a successful DFU initiation of the iPad.

No, iTunes doesn't "come with" DFU mode.

DFU mode is the set-up you put your iPad into so you can restore it - e.g. Put new software on it.

When you successfully enter DFU mode, your iTunes will automatically detect an iPad needing restore and so will open. It's all automatic, as long as the iPad is plugged into your computer AND iTunes is not running at the start.

Wait wait, so I'll connect the iPad, then let the auto iTunes open then close it, then only put it into dfu mode and then press restore? Is there like a video tutorial or something? LOL
