quick question
is it possible to use a Camera Connection Kit and a USB 3G modem on an jailbreaked ipad 2 with the current ios ?
I've read somewhere that apple cut off the power of the USB port on the newer ios releases

Yes - the current drive capability of the camera connection kit is only 10 mA, which is too small to drive a USB 3G modem, unless the modem has a separation connection for an external power supply.

And also you cannot connect modems in any case. The iPad does not have drivers for it. You can only connect mass storage devices and keyboards AFAIK.
