Outside my iPad, or was it inside?

Uhm, you should extract the .zip folder and then right click on the corresponding .exe file inside extracted folder to change thee compatibility.

Maybe my bad for not making it explicit enough in the tutorial instructions. It is in there just before the "Important Step" that you should unzip the redsn0w executable to your desktop.
I was going on the assumption that anyone attempting a jailbreak would have a basic grasp of fundamental file types such as ZIP and know what to do with them.
I'm not trying to be smart, but I would caution against proceeding with jailbreaking your iPad if you are unfamiliar with something as fundamental as a ZIP file. If on the other hand it is just a temporary moment of stupidity, which we are all prone to now and again, then carry on...

Wow, don't even know what to say about your comment but I wish I have your level of intelligence. I guess I'll ask somewhere else for further question on this topic. Thanks

I'm sorry if the response offended you, that wasn't my intention, however I stand by the general assertions made. We all have off days and I've made some glaring mistakes along the way, but hacking an iPad is not suitable for someone if they don't have a basic understanding of how to unzip a zip archive IMHO.
Please seek any further advice you need from the forums and I'll avoid the posts so as to not cause further offence.

I can absolutely assure you that Leigh meant no offense - maybe it's the British (Scots) sense of humour - please don't be offended. In the UK self-deprecation is the purest form of humour - it was a joke almost against himself.

Tim - a Scot for the last 25 years.

Tim a sassenach for the last 25 years.

Hopefully there's early release for good behaviour
