Yes , that is absolutely possible .just download php and curl from cydia and you're done .Instead of apache download lighttpd and lighttpd sbs toggle because you need a conf file and the toggle automatically creates it and the /var/www folder, and the log files .
Tested on iPad 1st gen running IOS 4.2.1 and iPhone 4th gen running IOS 4.2.1 .Both devices where jail broken with greenpois0n rc6
    Hope this helps you

P.S I forgotten the most important step of all ... All the above won't work because you need libssh2 which can be found at this cydia repo : "http://boococky.hostei.com/cydia/"

    Hello!

    A little question.
I've got lighttpd installed, and a /var/www folder does exist!
But I can't access it! And I can't find PHP and CURL on Cydia!
And when I try to enter the given source, it works in the beginning but then gives me an error !

    Thanks!

I believe in Cydia you may have selected "user" instead of "developer" (or something like that). Afterwards they will show up when you search. I also did the same mistake. Also PHP/Curl is one download instead of 2 separate. Good luck.

I have tried several times with no avail. Would still being on 3.2 have anything to do with it?

Looking at cydia on my ipad ... its description is ok for ios3 so I assume firmware 3.2 is ok. I obtained it from Telesphoreo source at apt.saurik.com
