I think this feature will come when te Ipad 2 arives.. Because apple cant stay behind.. And when the ipad 2 gets it we will also get the update...

It's not quite as simple as it sounds
Remember the firmware is still device specific and there are hardware differences despite the code base being the same. There has been some success sending SMS, but real SMS (via the carrier sim on a 3G device) needs the carrier to be on board too. Most iPad 3G contacts only have data. I'm sure we'll start to see some creative Cydia apps in the months to come though... Fingers crossed.
