    Jailbreak question

OK- first let me acknowledge that this may be a dumb question but after searching I haven't found the answer.

I'm attempting to Jailbreak my iPad with 4.2.1

I've downloaded the iOS Zip file:

    iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore

While using redsn0w 0.9.6b4 When it says "Please select the corresponding IPSW for your CURRENT firmware."

I'm not clear what exactly to point to? I've tried selecting folders, files, etc but nothing seems to bite.

    Any help for this newbie?

Thanks and I apologize in advance if this is an obvious oversight on my part.

Upgrade to 4.2.1 FIRST....THEN try again and see if it helps.

Remember to save your older SHSH first though!!!!
I never give up. Snideness and rudeness of any sort WILL be returned in kind.

I suggest doing a really good read here, google, modmyi before upgrading to 4.2.1 and find out whets going to happen. If you can't jailbreak already then dont upgrade.

You will have more problems if you upgrade then jailbreak than if you stay on 3.2.2 and jailbreak.

I've personally downgraded back to 3.2.2 as that's a lot better iOS than 4.2.1 and it's more jailbreak friendly.

    1. Update Itune to 10.1
    2. Connect your Ipad to PC and open Itune. While Itune is open, go to Ipad and search update for Ipad to 4.2.1, Itune ask if you want to "download and install", accept it and let Itune update your Ipad. Wait until update finish and open your Ipad and check if it is updated to 4.2.1 (Setting -> General -> About)
    3. download iPad1_1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw and put it in your desktop (if the file download is *.zip , change it into *.ipsw)
    4. download redsnow 0.9.6b4, run it, browse to iPad1_1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw (on your desktop) and Jailbreak your Ipad.
