There is no rush to download the IPSW file. You can always download any historical IPSW from our handy thread here - Official Apple IOS Firmware Download Links for iPad

The important thing is to have your saved SHSH Blobs as there may well be a way developed to allow the re-restore of 6.0 to 6.1.2 using the same exploits the evasi0n jailbreak uses.

You can stay on the iOS that you're on currently, but save your blobs for all iOS's just in case you're forced to or need to upgrade for some particular reason. That way, you can upgrade your device to say iOS 6.1.2 so that you'll still have a jailbroken device until a re-restore/downgrade is put together for A5+ devices

Jon, how is it possible to support an upgrade to a version of IOS which is no longer being signed? This is not the first time you have advised members of this and I am not aware of any way to make this possible. (a stitched custom firmware requires pwndDFU, which is impossible on any iPad supporting 6.x).
If an upgrade were possible regardless of the signing window, then a re-restore would also be possible at any time since any operation which is not a "downgrade" is essentially the same at a technical level.

I am extremely cautious about advising members that as long as they have blobs, then can choose to upgrade later to 6.1.2. AFAIK, that is impossible once the signing window is closed. What am I missing?

It is entirely a personal choice. If you are comfortable staying on 6.1, then by all means do that. Just be aware that once 6.1.3 is out and the 6.1.2 signing window is closed, you have lost that choice.

Have a look at my upgrade guide posted above, and if it doesn't seem like too much hassle, give it a go

In what way is ScreenDimmer laggy? I use it on all my iPads (since 4.x) and never experienced this.

What bugs are you experiencing on activator and springtomize. I have used all features but the ones I have used are working pretty flawless.
