I don't doubt that your method works, but I do disagree with your comment that handbrake is a waste of time. I like handbrake because I can play the files on other devices, not just an iPad. Not everything plays vob files.

I too am a fan of AVPlayerHD.

Your answer tells me it WON'T work directly with dvds,you have to remove the copy protection and rip the DVD with other programs first,before using anyplayer hd.This is hardly working directly with a dvd.Why do a process like your's requiring the use of three separate programs when handbrake is a stand alone program that does it all?

Is that what the answer tells you? I'm sorry this is difficult for you to comprehend, any DVD runs in background, avplayer helps play many, many types of files and shrink simply pulls the file off the disc. The time it takes you to Decode and recode a file will take you far longer than it will for me and as far as I understand you still need a decrypter to break DVD copy protection while usinghandbrake.

Are you using Windows or Mac? I can talk about ways to do it on Windows but not on the MAC. Of course, you own the DVDs in question, right?

You know...if I were going to go this approach, I'd use MakeMKV rather than DVD Shrink. AVPlayerHD handles mkv's too. MakeMKV is actually supported, too.

So what is bad about Handbrake? I have been using it for years. Ripped over 300 DVDs and enjoy them on iPad, AppleTVs with very acceptable results. On iPad the resolution is just right for watching on a plane. On the AppleTVs ( I have 4 and they are connected to screens from 40 to 63" and a 110" front HD projection system in my home theater) the resolution is not BluRay quality but most of the content is old movies I got from my local library. Just having them on demand is a thrill.

Please let me know if here is a better way. Thanks..
