Actually, it was my personal iPad that I brought in for the kids in my class to use. I stayed late at the school to speak with our principal while my daughter waited for me outside the office. She was using the iPad. Unfortunately, she is 10 and she set it down and walked away from it (for only 2 minutes) when someone decided that they needed it more. Luckily, I do have a newer iPad (the one that was taken was the original iPad), but it is still frustrating. Since it was a personal iPad, it is not covered under the school's insurance. When you ask about the number, are you referring to the serial number?

Yes, I am. Makes me realise what I'm risking taking my new iPad to school. Luckily, it's not happened but I'm still aware of the risks. My daughter uses mine when I'm at school but she's in the prep room of the science dept and nowhere near the rest of the school and the technician, myself or the other science teachers are always around.
That would still bug me that someone would do that. Let me know if there are any further developments.
