Can the Square credit card reader (SquareUp.com) work withwifi-only (non-cellular) versions of Ipads?
The Squareup.com website says that internal GPS is required butI’ve heard that the wifi-only Ipads don’t have GPS chips.
I’ve repeatedly asked Square.com but can’t get a straightanswer. I don’t want to buy an expensive Ipad only to find out it won’t work.

Correct, wifi only iPads do not have GPS.

My son has the iPad2 wifi only. Unless things have changed with updates, his square credit card reader worked for him.

Still, I am confused. The SquareUp site says GPS is absolutely required but wifi-only Ipads don't have GPS. But the Square Up site says all Ipads are compatible which is supported by drb's experience.

Hopefully others will chime in enough to give me confidence to pull the trigger.

I tried to get a direct answer from Apple but my AppleID isn't working.
