My wife's Blackberry (I think it's the Bold) cannot be used as a hotspot for an iPad. I checked out several Blackberry forums before accepting this as the unfortunate truth.

I have a bold and it works fine as a hotspot with my iPad.
Good to know. I'll check the wife's BB when I get home and see what model it is. Whatever it is, it doesn't do the job.Originally Posted by tj1961

I've checked a few entries on iPF referencing Blackberry tethering.

"The blackberry 9900 and newer models running OS 7.1 have the option of turning on "Mobile hotspot". This is along with the mobile connection and wifi on/off options. Once turned on, it becomes a local wifi device and the iPad connects to it effortlessly. I am using the blackberry 9900 with the iPad 3 (16 gb Wifi, no 3G)."
Please let us know if you make progress.

I connect my iPad using the hotspot on my blackberry 9900, However, orange charge me £1 a day on top of my Internet usage, bit of a bummer I think to be honest, are u being charged the same with your network?
My carrier doesn't charge anything extra for activating a wifi hotspot.Originally Posted by dulciedarling
