About LinkBacksHi all...
I could not get any sound on my iPad, so I began the search for a solution. I slipped on the headphones and the sound was great but when I unhooked them NO SOUND! Could not figure out the reason! I looked high and low for a solution when it occurred to me to look at that little button on the left side of the volume control....yup, you're right.....I had accidentally turned it off!! oops.

Further FYI
That Slide button is a multi use switch , meaning you can configure it to lock screen orientation or mute, I prefer screen lock as I never mute.
